About the Studios

The Studios at Hamiltonian Artists support the stability and growth of artists working in the area.

Ranging in size from 140 sqft to 270 sqft, the studios are located on the second floor above Hamiltonian Artists’ gallery on 14th and U Street NW. The space includes a common lounge for studio artists and Hamiltonian Fellows and an additional office/meeting room. Much like a formal residency, studios can be used for specific projects or moments in an artist’s practice in which the space is necessary for production, studio visits, community, or other short-term needs that help to develop one’s practice.

Priority is given to Hamiltonian Artists alumni, DC natives, DC residents (minimum 3 years), and area-based international artists.

Lease terms

Studios are available to rent for periods of 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. To promote equity, the rent for all studios is subsidized at two levels. However, should the cost remain prohibitive, additional subsidies are available. Ability to pay will not be factored into the decision process and will only be discussed upon a studio invitation.

We will try to accommodate as many people as possible depending on initial selections and lease terms. We will notify you if you are selected to fill a space at a later date.
