WiP!
WiP! showcases works in progress, sketches, studies, and material tests, alongside finalized works, in an effort to spotlight the artistic process and inspire viewers and artists alike to better appreciate the day-to-day creations that arise in artists’ practices. What does productivity look like as artists attempt to develop new bodies of work, improve their techniques, or move through creative block? When given the space to create, how might artists surprise themselves and try out new things?
The salon-style exhibition is influenced by DC’s long legacy of underground culture and takes cues from the area’s DIY, “pop-up” art scene. As such, WiP!’s intimate installation approach aims to foster fresh connections between local artists and create an opportunity for direct artist–patron exchanges, monetary or otherwise.
