Open Studios

Join us for open studios and meet a few of our current studio residents Farrah Skeiky, Martina Loncar, and Bahar Yürükoğlu. Visitors will get a behind the scenes look at works in progress, and have the opportunity to speak with resident artists about the ideas, techniques and materials that shape their work. 

At this time, studios are only reachable by two flights of stairs; we acknowledge and apologize that this limits access for some.

Martina Loncar (b. 1997, Toronto, Canada) is a mixed media artist whose work explores themes of connection, interdependence, and care. Trees and quilts are recurring subjects in her work, serving as metaphors for the ways individuals and communities support and sustain one another. Her expansive practice includes drawing, painting, paper-cutting, collage, video, and installation. Martina also writes and exhibits poetry alongside her work.

Bahar Yürükoğlu (b. 1981, Washington, D.C.) works with photography, installation, sculpture, and video in order to probe the boundaries between the human body with its environment, abstraction and kitsch, and the natural and the artificial, particularly through her experimentation with light and space.

Farrah Skeiky (b. 1990) is a Lebanese American photographic artist based in Washington, DC. Her work is representative of the DC area itself: a confluence of culture and counter-culture with a focus on heritage, identity, and community. She collaborates with artists, artisans, and organizers to tell thoughtful and striking visual stories. Currently, Farrah’s personal work is exploring grief at the intersection of cultural identity, gender, and community.
