Sydney Schilling
Sydney Schilling is an interdisciplinary artist and designer from Iowa and currently working in Arlington, VA. She primarily focused on textiles, objects, and spaces. Her practice is rooted in observation, intuition, and craftsmanship. As well as creating work that invites viewers to slow down. For Sydney, her work acts as a spiritual practice. The act of working with your hands is a meditative process, allowing the material to inform the outcome.
In 2023 she received her bachelor’s degree in Industrial design and Spanish. Her work transcends the boundaries of art and design, aiming to create a connection with those who experience it. Sydney’s work is authentic to her and shows her meticulous attention to detail in every texture and form that she makes. She believes strongly in play and allows the material to guide her, building upon the vast meaning embedded in textiles and infusing her own stories and emotions.
