Hello!
Hamiltonian
Fellow Linda Hesh is teaching a workshop called:
Digital Images Of Your Artwork -
If you
photograph your own artwork but are not always happy with the result, this
workshop will teach you how to utilize Adobe Photoshop to improve your
images. You'll learn to color correct, sharpen, even out the
lighting, highlight areas, straighten warped lines and more on photographs
of paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, drawings, collage,
installations, etc. Make your images look as good as the real art
does even with an inexpensive camera. You'll learn how to format for
show applications and how to make a simple postcard for online
printing. The class is on 2 consecutive sundays
so you can experiment during the week in between and then ask questions.
Handouts each class will have detailed instructions. Students who sign up
early can submit their own photographs to be worked on in the class and
will receive the finished product.
The workshop
consists of 2 consecutive Sunday afternoons:
March 22 & 29, 2009, from
11:00am-2:00pm
This workshop is
held through the Art League in Old Town Alexandria, and costs $90.
Sign up online or go to http://www.theartleague.org/school/
and search "instructor" for "Hesh"

REMINDER:
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at 7:00pm, Mark
Cameron Boyd will talk about his work currently on view at
the Hamiltonian
Gallery.
A Hamiltonian
Mentor Artist, Boyd is exhibiting work along with Hamiltonian Fellows Christian Benefiel
and Leah Frankel. Boyd will introduce the concepts behind
his participatory art practice and use of text on panels that allow visitor
interaction with chalk and dry erase marker. Additionally, Boyd will
discuss his Theory Notecards installation that
initiates a new twist he calls "owner-specific" participation -
only the "buyers of the blocks are authorized to decipher the bisected
text."
