Hamiltonian Artists is pleased to announce that we are hosting our next talk in the Artist Speaker Series on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 7:00pm at Hamiltonian Gallery.

Copyright questions?  Art legal issues?  John D. Mason has got your answers!  Mason is an art and entertainment attorney and intellectual property attorney at The Intellectual Property Group, PLLC (www.artlaws.com), and is on the Board of Directors of the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (www.thewala.org). He will be discussing legal matters related to art and artists, including copyright, trademark, and contract issues.

The Artist Speaker Series is a succession of lectures given by established artists and art professionals to aid in the artistic and entrepreneurial development of our So-Hamiltonian Fellows and other emerging artists.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at 7:00pm at Hamiltonian Gallery, we are hosting an artist talk given by our current three exhibiting artists - Lisa Montag Brotman, and Hamiltonian Fellows Tom Block and Michael Enn Sirvet.  This exhibition will be on view until May 2, 2009.  Please click hereto check out areview of the show from critic Dr. Claudia Rousseau.

Here's what our Hamiltonian Fellows have been up to:

Tom Block will be working on his preparatory drawings for his next large installation painting ("Manifesto") at the Utrecht store at 13th and I streets, from this Saturday April 11, through Wednesday, April 15, from 4-7pm, and Thursday and Friday, April 16 & 17, from 11:30 - 2pm.  Block has also taken over the WPA offices with Secret Garden, an installation of drawings and ideas inspired by the teachings of the Sufi mystics of Islam. The installation of over 300 pieces will spare no space within our office headquarters!

"Sweet Escape: Interpreting Freedom in the Modern World", juried by Lucian Perkins
at Gallery RFD, Swainsboro, GA  30401, from April 11-May 2nd, 2009.

On April 25, 2009 at 6pm, Christian Benefiel is participating in School 33's show Lotta Art 2009. This annual event raises funds for the support and growth of School 33, the renowned Baltimore arts institution that has championed the arts for nearly 30 years through exhibitions, studio space, and arts education.

Ian MacLean Davis has contributed pieces for auction at the Creative Alliance's "Live and Let Buy - Marquee Ball Auction."  The auction is tomorrow evening, April 11th, from 5-7pm, however the work will be on view for one week at the Creative Alliance at The Patterson, 3134 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore Maryland 21224.

Hamiltonian Artists is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing professional development opportunities for creative artists in their early careers. We offer a competitive two-year fellowship program to new, innovative visual artists in all media through an annual competition. Artists from around the nation are encouraged to apply
