mission + history

our mission

To build a dynamic community of innovative artists and effective visual art leaders by providing professional development opportunities for these aspiring new artists and by advancing their entrepreneurial success.

our history

Hamiltonian Artists was founded by Paul So who is a painter and a physics professor at George Mason University. As a scientist in a highly competitive field, he appreciated the tremendous benefits of the post-doctoral training opportunity that he received at the beginning of his career. However, as an artist, similar career development programs for new artists -- especially on the business aspects of art -- are rare. The Hamiltonian Artists was founded to create such a career development program for new artists anchored by a prominent exhibition space in the heart of the new contemporary art center in Washington DC.
