about

our objectives

In pursuit of our mission, we will adhere to the follow key objectives:

  • Establish the So Hamtiltonian Fellowship Program as a distinctive ''launching pad'' for new innovative artists.
  • Provide new artists with entrepreneurial job skills that can complement their artistic talents in a market driven world.
  • Maintain a successful synergic promotional relation with Hamiltonian Gallery so that the So Hamiltonian Fellows are well represented during their term.
  • Maintain a dynamic mentorship relation between the So Hamiltonian Fellows and the more established gallery artists from the Hamiltonian Gallery.
  • Develop strong collaborations with local art schools and institutes so that the fellowship program will continue to build on talented new artists.
  • Develop strong relationships with local and national commercial galleries and non-profit alternative spaces so that successful artists can continue to grow after their fellowship program.
  • Delineate next steps for graduates of the program by providing research and information about such opportunities as international residency programs, apprenticeships in artist and not-for-profit studios, museum opportunities and how to enter academic institutions and be competitive for faculty appointments.
  • Develop a sense that the Washington DC area is a confident, creative and outward looking region capable of partnering and producing creative change, thereby establishing future linkages and relationships for the artists, both during their fellowship and as alumni of Hamiltonian Artists' programs.
  • Expand the donor/corporate partnership base and increase charitable contributions so that sustainable financial resources can be maintained for the organization.
  • Link the So Hamiltonian Fellowship Program to existing artist residency program data banks and publications.
